I am a Chennai boy: Bunny

Allu Arjun wins brownie points for fanboy reference to Rajinikanth at Pushpa 2 song launch

Tollywood star Allu Arjun, who was in Chennai for the pre-release event of Pushpa 2 - The Rule, capitalised on his connection with the city, beginning his speech with the Tamil salutation ‘Vannakam Tamil makkale!’

“I am a ‘Chennai boy’,” Arjun declared. “No matter where I go nationally or internationally, Chennai remains my roots. I was born and raised here until my early 20s, and the city holds a special place in my heart.”
The actor, who had earlier promoted Pushpa — The Rise in the city, expressed joy at hosting a grand event in a packed Chennai auditorium. Though urged to speak Telugu, he insisted on using Tamil “as a mark of respect for this land.”
Hails Sreeleela

The song ‘Kissik’ from Pushpa — The Rule was launched at the event. Allu Arjun also praised Sreeleela’s dancing abilities saying, “For the first time, I was conscious of a song. I had to up my game, as Sreeleela was part of it.”
Homage to the Thalaivar

When asked which film he watched ‘First Day First Show’ as a Chennai boy, Allu Arjun did not reply directly, but made a gesture referring to Superstar Rajinikanth. “Just the actions are enough to understand, right?,” he said. His exaggerated gestures, filled with flair and drama, were a perfect homage to the Thalaivar.

Fondness for Rashmika

Discussing his co-star, Allu Arjun reflected on his extended collaboration with Rashmika Mandanna, with whom he shares great chemistry in Pushpa. “I’ve been working with only one actress for the past four years. Now, when working with others, I wonder why it’s not Rashmika,” he said.
