Nizamabad Natraj Theatre in Spotlight Over Lease Agreement Dispute?

The theatre owners reportedly informed exhibitor Asean Sunil about the change in management.

A fresh controversy has emerged in Nizamabad ahead of the release of Ram Charan's much-awaited film Peddi. The issue revolves around the popular Nataraj Theatre, which has now become a major talking point in Telugu film circles.

According to reports, the management of Nataraj Theatre has alleged harassment and intimidation after deciding to lease the theatre to Mythri Movie Makers. The theatre owners claim that a previous lease agreement had already been terminated, but they are now facing pressure and threats over the control of the property. The family also alleged that they were told, "Mee theatre mee ishtam kaadu ikkada," further escalating the controversy.

The theatre owners reportedly informed exhibitor Asean Sunil about the change in management. However, they allege that they were encouraged to continue with the existing lessees despite their decision. "Another theatre, Raghava Theatre in Miryalaguda, is facing a similar situation," said an exhibitor familiar with the matter.

He further alleged that some lessees fail to pay the amounts promised in lease agreements. "For instance, if a lease is signed for ₹6 lakh per month, they may eventually pay only ₹3 lakh by citing losses. This has become a major concern for theatre owners," he said.

According to exhibitors, the situation has intensified after Mythri Movie Makers entered the exhibition sector and began showing interest in taking theatres on lease. They believe some existing lessees are creating controversies to retain control over theatres.

When contacted, Vijayender Reddy confirmed that similar issues are being faced by several theatre owners. "Lessees may issue termination notices through email, but once another party shows interest in taking over the theatre, the existing lessees often return claiming that the agreement was never terminated and seek to renegotiate the terms which causes confusion," he concluded.
