‘Kalki 2’ Likely To Arrive in Dec 2027
Prabhas’ packed diary is posing a scheduling problem to makers

With big-ticket films like Dragon, Peddi, and Toxic postponing their release dates due to pending production work, speculation has shifted to Prabhas’ much-awaited sequel, Kalki 2898 AD Part 2. The buzz is that the sci-fi epic may hit theatres only in December 2027.
Sources reveal that Prabhas is currently juggling multiple pan-India commitments, and this is posing a major scheduling challenge for the makers of Kalki 2. “Prabhas recently joined the sets of Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 to shoot a few action sequences, but a significant portion of the film is still pending,” says a source.
Director Nag Ashwin is keen on obtaining bulk dates from Prabhas this year to accelerate the production process, but the actor is preoccupied with other prestigious projects like Fauzi and Spirit, leaving limited room for uninterrupted schedules, according to the source.
“There is already strong buzz in the industry that the makers are eyeing December 2027 as the ideal release window for Kalki 2. But such a massive visual spectacle requires meticulous planning, extensive shooting schedules, and a lengthy post-production process,” the source explains.
While sequels often lose momentum after long gaps, Kalki 2 appears to be a rare exception, with anticipation remaining sky-high despite minimal updates from the team.
Director Nag Ashwin has reportedly already shot key scenes featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Insiders say he plans to wrap major portions of the film by next June before shifting fully into the extensive VFX and post-production phase.
