Prabhas new record in AP/Telangana, tough task for his rivals?
No doubt, reigning star Prabhas set a new box office record in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by drawing net collections of over Rs 150 crore plus and it would be difficult for his rivals to surmount. “Now, his rivals and colleagues like Jr NTR and Allu Arjun and Ram Charan have a tough benchmark to overcome and prove their superstardom,’ says an exhibitor-turned-distributor. “Kalki broke all previous records riding on sensational openings and surpassed the Rs 150 crore plus net collections and Prabhas is first Telugu star to achieve that feat,” he adds.
Now, Jr NTR who is also a mass hero with a huge fan base is arriving with ‘Devara’ on September 17 and is bound to draw overwhelming openings since his film is released after five years. “The momentum for ‘Devara’ is quite good and even his promotions in various states are going viral and his big pre-release event in Hyderabad is going to boost the action adventure,” he adds. He is followed by another crazy star Allu Arjun whose film ‘Pushpa The Rule’ has triggered enough hype and also few controversies, but it is set for grand release on December 6. “It will be another film that has chances to beat the record of Prabhas in two Telugu states since his earlier film ‘Pushpa The Rise’ was a runaway hit. Allu Arjnu has the stamina to set new collections records,” he adds.
Another big star Ram Charan is also capable of setting new records and also has a legion of fans across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “Ram Charan has many hits and his next film ‘Game Changer’ also has enough potential to strike a chord with the masses. The son of megastar Chiranjeevi has enough crowd pulling prowess and could unsettle the previous records,” he concludes.
