Quite difficult: Two films have to make Rs 25 cr more?

With both ‘Double iSmart’ and ‘Mr Bachchan’ failing to draw crowds and just garnering Rs 14 to 15 crore net collections or share in the two Telugu states till now, an exhibitor claims that they have to make another Rs 25 crores to break even, otherwise, it will be difficult period for producers and distributors. “Both the films have been sold for over Rs 40 crores and now they have just made Rs 14 to 15 crore together. They have a long, long way to go, otherwise, it will give some sleepless nights to producers, albeit, ‘Double iSmart is ahead of ‘Mr Bachchan,” adds the exhibitor.

According to the leading exhibitor, the ‘Double iSmart’ was sold for Rs 25 crore plus and ‘Mr Bachchan’ for over Rs 16 crore plus in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, hoping that these action films will mint money during holiday seasons. “Some deals were refundable, while others are non-refundable advances, anyway producers have to cough up some money to distributors if they fail to break even or have to give their subsequent movies as compensation and it is a big burden on producers in the days to come, “ he points out.
They would have even avoided a clash at ticket windows and got some extra collections but both producers and distributors of Ravi Teja and Ram Pothineni movies didn’t budge. “One film on August 15 would gained better collections and other film would have got good opening son August 16, but it turned out to be flop show,” he concludes
