RGV Praises AI and Expresses Admiration for Silk Smitha

Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently took to social media platform X to express his fascination with the possibilities of artificial intelligence (AI). Sharing an AI-generated music video featuring the late actress Silk Smitha, RGV marveled at the technology's capabilities. In his post, he wrote, “What can AI not do? SILK SMITHA never looked more BEAUTIFUL,” referring to the video created by ‘Multiversematrix.’

The video portrays Silk Smitha in a variety of imaginative avatars, including riding a horse, driving a car, flying a plane, and appearing as an Indian goddess and various superheroes. The tribute caught the attention of users online, with many praising the creativity behind it. Comments ranged from “nicely done” to “A beautiful tribute to Silk Smitha.”

Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati, better known by her stage name Silk Smitha, was a celebrated Indian actress and dancer who predominantly appeared in Tamil and Telugu cinema. Throughout her career, she starred in more than 450 films, gaining immense popularity for her bold screen presence. Tragically, Silk Smitha died by suicide in 1996, leaving behind unanswered questions about her untimely demise.

Some of her iconic works include Khaidi, Roshagadu, Sadma, Naa Desam, Yamakinkarudu, and Challenge. The chart-topping song “Baavaluu Sayya” from the Telugu film Bava Bavamaridi remains a nostalgic favorite in Telugu-speaking states, frequently played at music events.

In the recently dubbed film Mark Antony, the makers paid homage to the dancing sensation by featuring a lookalike of Silk Smitha, which earned applause from audiences in theaters.
