Salaar 2 stuck due to Rs 50 cr budget hike?
Unlike few Telugu producers who don’t worry about hike in budgets and keep dishing out movies, leading Kannada producer Vijay Kirgandur seems to be quite cautious and pragmatic. “’Salaar’ 2 is stuck since director Prashanth Neel has hiked the budget and informed producer that it would cost Rs 50 crore more than they planned and producer stalled it,” says a source who adds, “Some Telugu producers would have overlooked the hike but Kannada producer was pragmatic and quite calculative,” he adds.
Actually, ‘Salaar’ starring Prabhas, Shruti Hassan and directed by Prashanth Neel was an action adventure based in the fictional city of Khansar and clash of feudal lords to capture power. “Prabhas fights big battles to help his childhood friend Prithviraj to defeat his dreaded rivals,” he adds. Now, that second part is reportedly focused on friend-turned-foes Prabhas and Prithviraj and it would be clash of titans. “Salaar sequel has lot of emotional core and also big bang action episodes since Prabhas takes on Prithviraj who rules a kingdom,’ he concludes.
While ‘Salaar’ was made with Rs Rs 270 to 280 crores, so the director came up with a new budget of Rs 340 crore for the sequel, but the producer is caught in a dilemma. “Maybe, Kalki's big success could inspire Vijay to revive the project,” he concludes.
