Three Telugu films in race to the Oscars?
SS Rajamouli's RRR, featuring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, was the first ever Telugu movie to bag an Oscar. Furthermore, the film gained the credit for becoming the first Indian feature to receive an Academy Award in the Best Original Song Category for ''Naatu Naatu'' as well.
No Telugu film has reached the finals of the Film Federation of India for the Oscar 2024 but there is excitement for the Oscars 2025. This year, there are three major contenders for the official Indian entry from Telugu cinema: Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD, Hanu-Man by Teja Sajja, and Mangalavaraaram by Payal Rajput. This has got the fans curious as to which of these films, if at all, will be presenting India in front of the rest of the world.
