Veteran actor Delhi Ganesh passes away at 80
Veteran actor Delhi Ganesh, a beloved figure in Tamil cinema, has passed away at the age of 80 after battling health issues for some time. With a career spanning over four decades, Ganesh made his debut in 1977 and acted in over 400 films across Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. He was known for his versatile roles, from villains to father figures, and shared the screen with some of the biggest stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Vijaykanth.
Ganesh is especially remembered for his iconic collaborations with Kamal Haasan in films like Naayagan, Apoorva Sodarargal, Michael Madana Kama Rajan, Papanasam, and many others. His long association with Haasan cemented him as a favorite in Tamil cinema.
Born on August 1, 1944, in Chennai, Delhi Ganesh was originally part of the Indian Air Force, where he served from 1964 to 1974 before transitioning to acting. His debut film was Pattina Pravesam in 1976, directed by K. Balachander. Ganesh’s immense contribution to the film industry, particularly his memorable roles in Nayakan (1987), Thenali (2000), and Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (2016), leaves an indelible legacy in Indian cinema.
