Vijay Sethupathi open to hero roles in Telugu cinema
Acclaimed Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi has revealed his interest in debuting as a lead actor in Tollywood. “I would love to play a protagonist in a Telugu film. I’m already listening to scripts and have heard a couple of them. It may happen soon,” said the actor while promoting his upcoming dubbed film, Vidudalai 2.
Talking about the sequel, Sethupathi promised an enriching cinematic experience. “I was thrilled to perform in a song composed by maestro Ilayaraja—it’s a golden opportunity,” he shared.
The actor is currently enjoying the massive success of his Tamil film Maharaja and expressed gratitude to Telugu audiences for their support. “I loved playing a dark role in Uppena. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take up a role in Ram Charan’s upcoming film with Buchi Babu due to scheduling conflicts,” he explained.
Sethupathi also admitted to turning down a few Tollywood offers. “Some roles didn’t excite me enough. I’m looking for refreshing, substantial characters from Telugu directors, and I hope something exceptional comes my way soon,” he added.
Vidudalai was a moderate success in the Telugu states, and its sequel is set to release on December 20. “The sequel will be an enthralling experience for everyone,” Sethupathi concluded.
