Legendary writer Vijayendra Prasad seems to have a soft corner for director Puri Jagannadh and his style of filmmaking. Even though he is busy with his work with his kin and ace director S S Rajmouli and delivered blockbusters from ‘Simhadri’ to ‘RRR’, resolved to spare some time for Puri. “Vijayendra Prasad called and requested me to narrate the story of my next movie, before I take it to the floors. I understood what he meant. He wanted to make small corrections, as he didn’t want to see me facing flops. Although I felt emotional for his concern, I didn’t tell the story of Double ISMART.” Puri Jagannadh said an event.
Actually, Puri Jagannadh is a writer himself and has penned many blockbusters like ‘Idiot’, ‘Pokiri’, ‘Desamuduru’, ‘Businessman’ and ‘Temper’ to carve a niche for himself. However, his career hit a lean patch after slew of duds like ‘Loafer’ to ‘Liger’. “Puri should have discussed with Vijayendraprasad since he knows the pulse of the audience and he could have definitely suggested few tips to deliver a surefire winner,” says a producer and adds, “Maybe Puri wanted to make a comeback on his own and prove his mettle since he also wanted to prove himself as a writer,” he adds.
Besides, Puri is known for extracting chartbusters from music directors starting with Chakri to Sandeep Chowtha to Manisharma and has many musical hits under his belt. “He has a nose for good tunes and most of his numbers are foot-tapping and energetic. Even today, his songs from movies like ‘Pokiri’, ‘Desamuduru’ and ‘Chirutha’ are still sought after my music lovers,” he concludes
