Visually Pleasing Manamey Fails to Impress Due to Wafer Thin Plot

First things first, People Media Factory deserves kudos for spending lavishly in picturesque UK and other locales for 'Manamey'.Then comes, Sharwanand's performance as a flamboyant and flirtatious guy who coolly woos girls and showcases few emotional moments with ease. While Krithi Shetty looks gorgeous and emotes well, yet all these things couldn't make up for an engaging and entertaining film. Riding on a wafer thin plot of two youngsters turning caretakers of a 2 year old kid, the much-hyped family drama works only in parts and offers some heart- wrenching moments. Taking care of kid, could have been a subplot and love story between Sharwa and Krithi should have more space, rather it was other way round. Sharwa's parenting woes entertains a bit, but slowly becomes repetitive.
Krithi as responsible girl who is also a working professional and takes care of kid quite well. The director Sriram Aditya believes that bringing in a character (Shiva Kandukuri) as the fiancee of Krithi, would tighten up the love story of Sharwa and Krithi, he got it wrong since its looks forced than interesting. Nonetheless, the 2 year kid who lost his parents in an accident looks cute, bubbly and his smile melts our hearts. The intent to make a unique story is laudable but poorly etched screenplay mars the show. Even the baddy( Rahul Ravindran )who tries to usurp kid's restaurant is awful and silly.
The film begins with Tulasi and Sachin Kandekar trying to call their son (Sharwanand) in London to wish him on his birthday.. While he is busy wooing girls and chasing down a pretty girl who is already committed..But he gets a shock of life, when police from Hyderabad call him and inform about death of his friend and his wife in a tragic accident. Sharwa rushes to Hyderabad and he is disturbed since his close pal. He also sees 2 year old kid with police.
At the same time, Krithi Shetty rushes in since she is friend of his friends wife. She picks the kid and later assures that she will take care of kid along with Sharwanand who doesn't like responsibilities. Both reach London and turns caretakers.. Check out for more in theatres.
Sharwanand who is known for lover boy roles plays a role with grey shades and impresses. He has hosen refreshing story as his 35th film but dreary narration bound to disappoint.. Krithi Shetty gets another performance centric role and proves her histrionic skills. While comedians Vennela Kishore and Rahul Ramakrishna evoke a few laughs but it is not enough to keep audience engaged.
Director Sriram Aditya who's last film 'Devadas' was a flop, this time he drew inspiration from a Hollywood movie 'Life as we know it, but couldn't make it a winner. He scores in showcasing young parent' woes but fails to capture the soul of the original with few stale jokes.
