Watch: Sudhanshu Rai Reveals First Look of Sci-Fi Thriller BAIDA
India’s beloved storyteller Sudhanshu Rai marked Makar Sankranti with the unveiling of the first-look video for his much-anticipated sci-fi supernatural thriller, BAIDA. The 55-second teaser offers a glimpse into a mysterious and illusionary world, filled with abandoned cottages, lantern-lit forests, and a web of enigma. Directed by Puneet Sharma, the film is set to release across Indian cinemas on March 21, 2025.
Set in India’s Hindi heartland, BAIDA is a first-of-its-kind thriller that combines science fiction and supernatural elements. Based on one of Sudhanshu Rai’s most popular audio stories, the film aims to bring his unique fictional universe to the big screen. The makers, under the banner of Saints Art and Kahanikaar Sudhanshu Rai, have already made a mark with their horror-comedy Chaipatti. With BAIDA, they promise to elevate the cinematic experience.
Director Puneet Sharma described the film as “a tale of illusions,” where Sudhanshu Rai’s character embarks on a journey through alternate dimensions and timeframes. “It’s a story of unimaginable worlds, pure entertainment that can only be experienced on the big screen,” Sharma added.
Sudhanshu Rai, the film’s lead actor and writer, expressed his excitement about the project. “BAIDA is my gift to fans who’ve cherished my fictional universe. It follows a former spy trapped in the dark, sinister world of a man who defies time and death. The film also marks the on-screen debut of Dr Shekhawat, a character beloved by my listeners,” Rai said.
The ensemble cast includes Chaipatti’s Shobhit Sujay, Detective Boomrah’s Manisha Rai, Tarun Khanna, Sourabh Raaj Jain, Hiten Tejwani, Akhlaq Ahmad Azad, and Pradeep Kabra. The film also boasts an experienced technical team, with Kantara and 777 Charlie-fame Pratheek Shetty as the editor and Abhishek Modak as the director of photography.
