He dons three hats together -Producer, director and actor, with his recent production film titled,” Dada Lakhmi [Haryanvi] which has won the Cine Dream Film Festival Award in the best film category. What are the film festivals to you and your first production film,” Dada Lakhmi” has won a Cine Dreams award. What do awards mean to you?

This is the Cine Dream film festival which is going on since a few years and Ayub Khan is organising it and many domestic and foreign films are being shown here, so the purpose for which I have come is that my film is being shown, which is titled,” Dada Lakhmi”, it has already received 83 international awards and has also received a national award two years ago. And a year and a half ago and has also been shown in Cannes. Awards bring appreciation to your work. It definitely feels good and boosts our morals to bring forth such biopics in the public domain. This is a two and half hour’s film. I will be making Dada Lakhmi 2, it’s a biopic of a folk artist so we couldn’t complete his life achievements in 2 and half hours.

On becoming a producer he added, “I wanted to make it into a feature film but then the film would be very lengthy, thus I decided to make a short film. Turning a producer was a herculean task to complete it therefore, it took six years. I was very excited and happy making this biopic as this is the first time that I could feel utterly satisfied doing things my way. There has been no compromise like I do while I work with others.

On his future acting projects he updated,” I am doing a lead role in this web series called Do-Pahiya which will be releasing on Amazon Prime in 2 months. Also working with many actors in, “Welcome 3,” In, “Raid 2, I play a lawyer. Yes, initially it looks negative but ultimately it is a very positive role. I didn’t have to prepare anything to play the lawyer.

On a concluding note Yashpal says, “Trying varied genres after playing negative roles in Director Prakash Jha’s films he says, “Abi toh Prakash ji kuch nahi kar rahe Hai .And now donning different characters in different genres I want to do quality roles over quantity. I am enjoying this professional phase the most.
