Fact Check: The TATA group has not launched an electric bicycle for ₹3,249
The bicycle in the viral post is the Zeeta Plus 22-inch, manufactured by Stryder, a subsidiary of Tata International

A post (here, here and here) going viral on social media features a bicycle photo, claiming that the TATA group has launched an electric cycle for ₹3,249 with a range of 108 km. Several websites have also made similar claims. Let’s examine the facts behind this post.
Claim: TATA group has launched an electric bicycle for ₹3,249 with a 108 km range.
Fact: The bicycle in the viral post is the Zeeta Plus 22-inch, manufactured by Stryder, a subsidiary of Tata International. As of 25 February 2025, its listed price is ₹27,995, and its maximum range is 30 km per charge. No official announcement supports the claim of a ₹3,249 electric bicycle with a 108 km range. Hence the claim is FALSE.
To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search, which led us to Flipkart’s online store, where the bicycle was identified as the Zeeta Plus 22-inch by Stryder. Checking Stryder’s official website confirmed that as of 25 February 2025, the bicycle is priced at ₹27,995, and reports indicate that it was launched in 2023 at an initial price of ₹26,995. We found no reports confirming that Stryder or Tata International has announced a sale of this model or a new electric bicycle for ₹3,249.
To clarify further, we attempted to contact Stryder customer care but did not receive a response. We then searched for their dealers in Hyderabad and found Prudhvi’s Cycling Studio. Upon contacting them, they confirmed that they are not selling any Stryder bicycle for ₹3,249, and in fact, the battery alone costs at least ₹10,000. They also stated that the Zeeta Plus model can travel a maximum of 30 kilometres on a single charge, depending on various conditions. This information is also available on the Stryder company website.
Additionally, we came across several websites (here, here, here and here) that had repeated the same claim from social media posts without any supporting evidence. Studies indicate that such misleading claims are often spread to gain traction and engagement online.
To sum up, the claim that the TATA group has launched an electric bicycle for ₹3,249 is false.
