Fact Check: Viral 2019 Train Crash Video Falsely Linked to Jaipur

A 2019 Hyderabad train collision video is falsely shared as a Jaipur accident in 2025. No such incident occurred.

A viral video circulating on social media (here, here, here, and here) shows two trains facing each other on the same track. The post claims that a train travelling from Ajmer to Assam met with an accident in Jaipur, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. Let’s verify the claim made in the post through this article.

The archived post can be found here and here.

Claim: Videos show a train travelling from Ajmer to Assam colliding with another train on the same track in Jaipur on 02 February 2025.

Fact: The video dates back to 11 November 2019, showing an MMTS local train colliding with the Kurnool Intercity Express near Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad, Telangana. There are no media reports of a collision of a train from Ajmer to Assam and another train on the same track in Jaipur on 02 February 2025. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

We conducted an internet search using relevant keywords to verify the viral claim. However, we found no credible reports confirming that a train travelling from Ajmer to Assam collided with another train on the same track in Jaipur on 2 February 2025. Given the significance of such an incident, it would have received widespread media coverage, but no such reports were found.

We conducted a reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video, which led us to a similar video (archived) published by The New Indian Express on 12 November 2019, which stated that it was “CCTV footage of the MMTS train clash in Hyderabad.” According to the report, a Hyderabad MMTS train collided head-on with the Kurnool Secunderabad Intercity Express at Kacheguda railway station on 11 November 2019.

We also found several news reports (here, here, and here) covering the same incident. According to these reports, South Central Railway officials stated in a press release, “Six coaches of the MMTS service and three coaches of the Hundry Express were damaged. Twelve passengers were rushed to Osmania General Hospital, of whom two were discharged.”

Factly previously debunked the same video when it went viral with different claims. You can read them here and here.

To sum up, a 2019 video of two trains colliding is being falsely shared as a train from Ajmer to Assam colliding with another on the same track in Jaipur on 02 February 2025. However, no such accident took place in Jaipur on that date.
