ED attaches Jacqueline’s assets worth crores
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth Rs 7 crore of Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez under the anti-money laundering law, in connection with the criminal probe against alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
Jacqueline reportedly received a horse worth Rs 52 lakh from Chandrashekhar and he bestowed several other gifts worth crores on her family as well.
In his statement recorded under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Chandrashekhar said he had given as many as 15 pairs of earrings, five Birkin bags, and other luxury goods from Chanel and Gucci to the actor, apart from Cartier bangles and rings, a bracelet from Tiffany & Co., and Rolex watches. The gifts of jewellery were said to be worth? 7 crore.
In addition, Chandrashekhar reportedly extended a loan of USD 150,000 to Jacqueline's sister who lives in the US. He also gave her a BMW X5 car and gifted Jacqueline's parents a Maserati and her mother in Bahrain a Porsche. He gave her brother in Australia a loan of USD 50,000.
“Some gifts and fixed deposits have been attached after a provisional order was issued under the PMLA. A few more assets will be seized as well as amounts equivalent to the value of the animals gifted, which are now pets and cannot be seized unless Jacqueline wants to give them up,” says a source.
