Volkswagen Taigun: The German automobile manufacturer launched the Volkswagen Taigun, a compact SUV at the auto expo. It is based on the new small family platform structure, PQ12. With four meter length, this unit is to be assembled at the Volkswagen's manufacturing facility in Pune. With spacious and decently luxurious interiors, it sports a 1.2 litre engine producing a maximum output of 74bhp. The model unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo is of orange shade and it had been first launched at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in 2012. Its direct competitors are Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.
Volkswagen Ameo: Volkswagen has rolled out the first Ameo from the production line. Offering a plethora of first-in-class features, the car will face some stiff competition from the likes of the Swift Dzire and the Amaze. The car borrows petrol and diesel engine from the Polo and will sit between the Polo and the Vento in Volkswagen's line-up. The launch is anticipated to take place in June 2016 and the product is likely to launch at a price of Rs 6 lakh.
Fiat Linea 125S: The Italian automaker, Fiat revealed Linea 125 S. The price of this new Linea will be relatively like Abarth Punto. It has the same interiors as previous Linea but now it comes with new infotainment system. The new Linea 125 S is the upgraded 1.4-litre T-JET motors. The stock Linea petrol with the same engine musters 114 horses, while the sportier 125 S version offers 125 horses (125PS @ 5,000rpm). The max torque has also slightly been upgraded to 210Nm and is extracted in between the engine speed of 2200 rpm. The engine is coupled to a 5-Speed manual gearbox. It will be launched in the mid of this year and will be under Fiat brand.

Renault Sandero: Renault is delving into deeper waters in the hatchback segment with yet another launch in the hatchback segment in form of Renault Sandero. Inheriting the premium looks from larger than life image of Renault's product portfolio, the new hatchback Renault Sandero priced at an expected Rs 5 lakh will compete aggressively against the leading hatchbacks Hyundai i10 and Ford Figo. Sandero was planned in 2010 only when Renault was in alliance with Mahindra, however, due to their split, the progress of the car could not take place.
Mahindra E Verito: The upcoming Mahindra E Verito, which is already being regarded as a 100 per cent zero emission green vehicle, is said to have a 72V, 3-phase AC induction motor, which powers the e2o as well. It is anticipated to produce a maximum power of around 41bhp at 3500rpm besides delivering torque output of 91Nm at 3000rpm. It is likely to get the maintenance free lithium ion batteries. Also, the company has claimed it to achieve a top speed of about 86 Kmph and runs for up to 100 Kms in just one full charge that takes around 7-hours. On the other hand, it is also rumored to come with a fast charging mode that reduces the charge rate to less than 1.5 hours.
Maruti Ignis: Maruti Suzuki's next offering in the utility vehicle space- the Ignis is expected to be launched around Diwali, this year. The car will be offered in both petrol, as well as diesel variants. Taking on the petrol powerplant duties will be Maruti's 1.2-litre K12B engine, which will be made available in both CVT as well as five-speed manual transmission. Powering the diesel variants of Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be the company's time tested 1.3-litre DDiS motor, which will be incorporated in this Micro SUV in its 75PS state of tune. The expected price of Maruti Suzuki Ignis might fall in the ballpark of Rs. 4.5 lakhs (base model).
Maruti Baleno: The Baleno is all set to make its way to the UK. Expected to be launched on 01 June 2016 in England, the car units are being made in India. Maruti has installed a lot of features in the Euro-spec version of the Baleno not founded in any trim in India. List of new features include the cruise control with speed limiter, 16-inch alloy wheels, a six-speed automatic gearbox, HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights, six-airbags and radar brake support. The carmaker has also incorporated the 1.0-litre turbocharged booster jet engine and the 1.2-liter DualJet engine with the SHVS. It will be priced between GBP 12,999-15,349 (Rs 12.8 to 15.11 lakh) in the European country.
Tata Bolt: Tata motors is releasing celebration editions of its GenX Nano, Bolt and Zest cars. With the festive season fast approaching, the automaker is releasing these editions laced with updates to attract customers, in order to move inventory. Tata has lined-up 5 models, which include Bolt, GenX Nano, Safari Storme, Zest and Indigo to offer this treatment.
Tata Kite 5: Tata has introduced Tiago-based compact Sedan, the Kite 5 at the ongoing IAE. It includes Harman powered infotainment unit paired to an 8-speaker sound system and the body colored AC pallets. Dual airbags and ABS, on the other hand, are standard. The car continues with the powertrains as those incorporated in the Tiago hatchback. The 1.2L three-cylinder Revotron develops 85 PS and 114Nm of torque while the 1.05L Revotorq generates 70 PS and 140Nm of torque. These motors come coupled with a standard 5-speed manual gearbox, whereas AMT will be available at a latter stage.
Honda Brio: The Japanese automaker, Honda is all geared-up to launch the Brio RS hatchback in the Indonesian markets. A report states that the Indonesian subsidiary of the company, the PT Honda Prospect Motors has registered the name Brio RS, which confirms the car will be launched in the country soon. The RS-spec Brio will remain mechanically unaltered, which is to say that it will come with the same 1.2-liter, 88PS of power and 109Nm of peak torque i-VTEC mill that is featured in the current generation of Brio.
Volkswagen Up: Volkswagen has released the images of its up! hatchback facelift. For the uninitiated, up! hatchback was felicitated with the World Car of the Year award' in the year 2012. This should give you a fair idea of how impressive and important this little hatchback is. The updated hatchback features a redesigned front bumper and an all new headlamp cluster. Also making its way into the hatchback are the LED DRLS, LED taillamp cluster accented by a chrome strip on the tailgate, fog lamps integrated into the bumper, wing mirrors with LED indicators and new alloy wheels.
Datsun GO Cross: Nissan Datsun showcased the Datsun Go-Cross in India at the ongoing 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The front profile of the vehicle gets angular headlamps and large round fog lamps. However, being a concept, the actual layout is bound to deviate from this one but at the same time, retains the all around black body cladding and a front & rear bumper. Also, it is expected to feature a touchscreen infotainment system, climate control and digital driver information cluster. Power sources will be a 1.2L petrol mill from the GO and the 1.5L diesel engine from the Renault Duster. Expected to range between Rs 7-11 Lakh.
Hyundai EON: Hyundai has started offering an optional driver airbag from the second base variant of the Eon. The top-spec variant of the car gets a standard driver airbag. The carmaker also enhanced safety features in its other models like the Grand i10 and the Xcent. The Eon is powered by a 0.8-litre and a 1.0-litre petrol mill where the former has power figures of 55bhp/75Nm and the latter churns out 68bhp/94Nm. These engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The smaller mill delivers a mileage of 21.1 kmpl and competes with the Alto 800/K10 and the Renault Kwid.
Datsun Redi GO: Datsun is “redi†with its third offering for India, the redi-GO, which is all set for launch in the first week of June. Powering the car is the same three-cylinder, 0.8-litre petrol engine as in the Kwid and with identical power output. It's not fast or exciting but can get you from point A to B with relative comfort. Overall, the redi-Go is a great option for first-time car buyers looking for a funky budget hatchback in the Rs 2.5-3.5 lakh range. It's ideal for daily commutes in the city and with a fuel efficiency rating of 25.17 kmpl is frugal too.
Renault KWID: The Renault Kwid is one of the seven models which have undergone the third round of crash tests conducted by global NCAP under the 'Safer Cars for India' campaign. This comes after the less-than-impressive performance by Indian cars in the second round of tests. The results for the third round are likely to be announced soon. The Kwid is powered by a 0.8-litre petrol mill which churns out 54PS of power and 72Nm of torque. It mates with a five-speed manual gearbox. The car is priced at Rs 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
