Audi launches RS 7 Sportback at Rs 1.3 crore
Mumbai: Luxury carmaker Audi on Monday expanded its product range in the country by introducing the RS 7 Sportback, priced at Rs 1.28 crore, ex-showroom Mumbai.
"After the overwhelming response to our Audi RS 5, which further boosted our leadership in the luxury sports car segment, we are confident the new Audi RS 7 Sportback with its aesthetic design and impressive sportiness would establish new benchmarks in the performance sports car segment," Audi India head Joe King said.
The company sold the first new car to Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
Audi, which became the first luxury car-maker in the country to cross sales of 10,000 units in a year, also hinted at flat growth this year, citing the forthcoming general elections.
In 2013, it sold a record 10,002 units, up 11 per cent from 9,003 units in 2012.
"We started the year with the historic achievement of becoming the first luxury car maker to achieve 10,000 unit sales in 2013," King said.
"The market may not be very consumer-friendly in the first half due to elections but post-elections we will see a possible growth," he said.
The company, which currently has 34 dealerships, will increase the number of outlets to 40 by this year, King said.
While refusing to divulge numbers, King said Audi will definitely aim for higher growth and greater market share from the estimated 31 per cent last year.
"We have not set a target. But we will definitely want to increase our market share with a right strategy and right product mix," he said.
The German car-maker sells 12 models in the country now, including the popular Q3 and A4 sedans.
