Telangana University jobs drive ends
Karimnagar: Controversial recruitment drive of teaching faculty in Telangana University has finally completed here on early hours of Saturday.
Within hours after the AP High Court vacated the stay on recruitment case, the officials handed over the appointment orders to the provisionally selected candidates. Surprisingly, the appointment orders were issued on midnight of Friday.
It may be recalled that TU authorities had issued notification for filling up of teaching and non-teaching posts in the University during 2012. Shockingly, the officials had faced severe criticism for recruiting ineligible persons and lapses in drive of recruitment.
Meantime, the academic consultants working with the TU staged agitation protest against the alleged irregularities in recruitment for 14 days.
Academic consultants association filed a case in High Court against the recruitment process.
Meantime, the state government had also appointed two-men committee with former registrars of Kakatiya and Andhra Universities Bhaskar Rao and Prasad Rao to probe the allegations on recruitment.
In this context, the recruitment process took long time to complete. Of 53 selected candidates, 9 members reported for duties on last February 1. Due to MLC elections code of conduct, the process was halted. Case in the court abnormally delayed the process.
Reportedly, perusal of university authorities finally completed the recruitment drive. Around 40 members joined duties on Saturday and remaining would join within two or three days.
When contacted by this correspondent to get clarification on recruitment, TU vice-chancellor Mohammad Akbar Ali Khan and registrar R. Limbadri’s cell phones were switched off on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a senior political leader from the district cooperated with the university authorities to complete the recruitment process to strengthen the faculty in the university.
