Koffee With Karan Season 5 began in 2016 and as it extended to 2017, the controversies kept this show alive.
Sonam Kapoor, when posed with a question about Deepika Padukone, acknowledged to even know the actress. Further when asked to choose who is a better actress, she went on to pick Priyanka over Dippy.
Priyanka Chopra might have given out too many hints on the show (even regarding her controversy with Tom Hiddleston) and later she just hoped her mother didn't see the show.
Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput's PDA on the sets got Karan Johar uncomfortable. Mira in turn accused Karan of being jealous of them.
Kareena Kapoor Khan, when asked what she would do when stuck in an elevator with Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif, chose to kill herself. Both the women are her cousin Ranbir Kapoor's ex.
This was by far one of the biggest controversies of 2017. Kangana Ranaut called Karan the 'flagbearer of nepotism' while promoting 'Rangoon' with Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor. Later on, Karan at an awards function said 'Woh kuch na bole toh hi accha hai' when he came across the song 'Bole Chudiya, Bole Kangana.'
Alia Bhatt, who came to promote Karan Johar's production film 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' got the shock of her life when Karan mentioned that he has lied about his actor's performances. Alia was also gifted a vibrator on the show by Varun Dhawan.
