Ahmedabad: Kenyans today swept the fourth edition of the Sabarmati Marathon, emerging winners in the full marathon category.
Shadrack Kipkogey and Kiplimo Jacquline Nyetipei pocketed Rs 6 lakh prize money each after winning the men's and women's full marathon respectively.
While Kipkogey crossed the line in two hours 14 minutes and 18 seconds, Nyetipei completed her run in two hours 45 minutes and 46 seconds, according to a press statement issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) The Indian winners in the full marathon category were Mumbai's Paras Kumar (men) and UP's Jyoti Singh (women).
They clocked their respective victories in 2 hours, 27 minutes and 39 seconds and 3 hours, 8 minutes and 47 seconds, the statement said. They pocketed home Rs 2 lakh each. The marathon was flagged off by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi with more than 17,000 people registering for the run.
