Hyderabad MBBS student dead in Mumbai
Hyderabad: A day after medical student Divya, 25, from Hyderabad was found dead in her hostel room, in Mumbai under mysterious circumstances, the hospital authorities said that it was a case of suicide.
Her parents are suspecting foul play. Divya’s father B.M.S. Srinivas said that there was no reason for her to commit suicide and that she was about to return home in February.
She was doing her Post Graduation in Anesthesia at Jaslok hospital in Mumbai. Divya was found dead in her room at Peddar Road, on Friday morning.
According to the Mumbai police and the hospital authorities, Divya, who was a resident of Adikmet in Nallakunta, killed herself by injecting poison into her body.
Police officials who examined the spot found a syringe near her body. However, Divya’s parents said that she would not have committed suicide since there was no reason for her to take the extreme step.
“She was very happy when we talked to her two days ago. She was about to come to Hyderabad in February for her cousin’s birthday. We suspect foul play in the case,” said her father.
Divya’s parents said that their daughter was staying in a hostel with three other roommates. She was found dead in the morning.
They wonder why her flat mates did not notice anything amiss for a long time. Srinivas said that Divya, who had completed her MBBS from SVS Medical College, in Mahbubnagar, got a government job but opted to study medicine, which was her passion.
“She was very good at studies and was happy with her achievements. We do not think she would end her life,” Srinivas said.
