Andhra Pradesh colleges want NaMo as PM

On Saturday, the managements of professional colleges announced that they would like Modi as the next Prime Minister.

Hyderabad: BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, has got support from the most unexpected quarters — the professional colleges in the state.

On Saturday, the managements of professional colleges announced that they would like Modi as the next Prime Minister. They believe that he would be able to set things right in the education sector, especially in the professional colleges.

They pointed out that education bodies such as the UGC, AICTE and MCI had become defunct during the 10-year rule of the UPA. They are convinced that only a new government led by Modi can revive these bodies.

The managements convened a meeting in the city to express solidarity to Modi. They vowed to work for the success of BJP’s national general secretary, Dr P. Muralidhar Rao. He is likely to contest for the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat.

Though the event was called Workshop on emerging trends in technical and higher education in India, the speakers at the workshop made political speeches that deviated from the given topics.

Managements of engineering, pharmacy, B.Ed, Law, and undergraduate and post graduate colleges attended the meeting. Dr Rao was the chief guest. UGC member Prof D.N. Reddy was also present.

The Professional Colleges Managements Association urged Dr Rao to take up issues concerning colleges with Modi and see that the new government at the Centre draws up suitable policies for the growth of professional colleges.

Association leader Nimmatoori Ramesh sought abolition of Article 371 (D) for private colleges, which has resulted in over 1.75 lakh engineering seats remaining vacant.
