BJP seeks Rajinikanth support in polls
Chennai: After Modi wave, the BJP is turning towards superstar Rajinikanth to weave his magic and garner votes for the saffron party in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
The party which put up Rajni’s posters at its massive youth rally in Tiruchy in September last year addressed by party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, renewed its appeal to the actor to lend his support for the party. The actor’s support, it appears is indispensable for the party to win a good number of seats and make it to Parliament.
“We will ask Rajini to support us in the Lok Sabha elections,” BJP state president Pon Radhakrishnan declared in Tiruchy indicating that the actor’s role would be crucial in making the BJP a formidable force during polls. Though the actor had not overtly responded to the previous appeal, it remains to be seen if he would take a plunge into politics supporting BJP.
Interestingly, the party has chosen Tiruchy as venue for imparting poll related training to its members on Friday.
Claiming that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was apprehensive of defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, Radhakrishnan said the Prime Minister’s decision to make way for Rahul Gandhi, Congress vice president, for the top job, would augur well for the country. “His decision is good for the country. He is a good man but could not act with free will,” he remarked sarcastically.
