40% city gets free water: Kiran Kumar Reddy
Hyderabad: Citizens of Delhi city are getting free drinking water from January 1, after Aam Aadmi Party leader Kejriwal became the Chief Minister.
However, the citizens of the twin cities — Hyderabad and Secunderabad — have been getting free drinking water for a long time now, said Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, at a press conference on Saturday.
It is another matter that he quickly added that while all the people in Delhi were getting free water, only 40 per cent of the population is as lucky in the twin cities.

Kiran ignores MP’s helicopter quote
Hyderabad: City minister Danam Nagendar requested the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar to follow the Delhi government and supply free drinking water to the people. The CM’s knee-jerk on supply of free water was that it was already being done.
When shocked media looked back at him, he quickly clarified that the Bill was being collected only from 60 per cent of the people living in the twin cities. This effectively meant that the remaining 40 per cent were getting free drinking.
When asked about Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar’s statement about shooting down the helicopter in the air if it carried the Chief Minister to Karimnagar to inaugurate the Yellampalli project on January 5, Kiran Kumar Reddy dismissed it with, “Do not give importance to such statements.”
