Solar scam: HC grants bail to Saritha in two more cases
Kochi: Kerala High Court today granted bail to Saritha S Nair in two more cases related to the solar panel scam in which she is one of the main accused.
The two cases were registered by Ernakulam Town police. The bail was granted by Justice Thomas P Joseph.
In the statement filed on behalf of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), it was stated that Rs 6 crore had been collected by Saritha and her partner Biju Radhakrishnan from various persons and Rs 5.5 crore had been accounted.
Police also produced account statements of Saritha and Biju Radhakrishnan which show that large amounts had been spent as hotel bills and for purchasing textiles.
Police stated that based on the facts established in the investigation about utilisation of money and proceeds of crime, it can be safely concluded that utilisation of money for settlement of the case against her is most unlikely.
No payment has been made in any of the major cases, police said. The acquaintances and relatives of the accused not connected with the case coming forward to help the accused cannot be ruled out, police said.
Police said they have investigated 33 cases and chargesheet had been laid in 30 cases.
