The titular Maharaja of Mysuru, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Monday, tied the knot with Trishika Kumari Singh of the Dungarpur royal family in a traditional ceremony.
The Mysuru Palace, venue of the wedding between scion of the 600-year-old Wadiyar dynasty, was decorated with flowers and mango leaves.
In a traditional ceremony on May 28 last year, Yaduveer was crowned as the titular head of the erstwhile Mysuru royal family. During Dasara he had ascended the golden throne to preside over the 'khasa (private) durbar', which is reminiscent of the bygone era.
Yaduveer also did Samaavarthane, which is a pre-requisite to enter grusthashrama.
The bride and groom were engaged in over 14 rituals in separate venues inside the palace, including Ganapathi pooja, Chamundeswari pooja, Punyaha, Ashtanga, Devara sambavane, Matada sambavane, Naandi aavaahane, Naandi pooja, Aachaaryavarna and Dheekshavarthana sweekaara.
The rituals began with Yaduveer performing 'pada puja' to 'Rajaguru' Bramhatantra Parakala mutt seer Abhinava Vageesha Brahmatantra Swatantra Swami.
Marriage rituals have been underway since yesterday with the stamp of royal traditions.
The late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar too had married Pramoda Devi Wadiyar at the venue in 1976.
Wedding receptions will be held on June 28 and July 2 at palace in Mysuru and Bengaluru respectively. Yaduveer was engaged to Trishika much before his adoption as scion to royal family.
Trishika is the daughter of Harshvardhan Singh and Maheshri Kumari from the Dungarpur royal family in Rajasthan.
As the royal wedding began, a celebratory mood has gripped the whole of Mysuru, where people hold the royal family in high esteem.
About 1,000 invited guests attended the ceremony to witness the marriage ceremonies which was officiated by a battery of priests. Among those invited include top politicians, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Cabinet colleagues, diplomats from consulates of several countries, erstwhile royal families from across the country.

The marriage took place at the auspicious Karkataka lagna in Saavithra muhoortha between 9.05 am and 9.40 am, at the Silver mantapa of the palace on Monday.
