The biggest shining star for India this season has undoubtedly been their Test captain Virat Kohli. Kohli has scored runs across all formats of the game. However, it is in Test cricket, where the skipper has really shown his mettle, raking up 1,215 runs in 2016. To add to that, his aggressive leadership has helped India go on an 18-Test unbeaten run. ICC No. 1 bowler in Tests, Ashwin, has been the most lethal bowler for India in Test cricket this year. He has absolutely terrorised opposition batsmen, picking up 72 wickets. His contribution with the bat has also been huge, as he has scored 612 runs in Tests in 2016. Ashwin has helped bail India out of difficult positions, raking up the runs from the lower order. One of the key components of the Indian cricket team, Ravindra Jadeja has contributed both with the bat and the ball. The 28-year-old has chipped in with runs in the lower order, scoring 375 runs this year, in Test cricket. However, his biggest contribution has been with the ball. Jadeja has formed a formidable partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin, to terrorise the opposition batsmen. He has taken 43 wickets in Test cricket this year. (Photo: AP)
Things were looking somewhat bleak for Karun Nair after scoring a total of 17 runs from the Mohali and the Mumbai Tests against England. Rishabh Pant is one of the few cricketers, who have caught the eye of the nation in 2016 from the domestic circuit. Although he is yet to get a call-up for the national team, Pant has already impressed with the bat for Delhi Ranji team, scoring 972 runs so far this season, at a massive average of 81.
