KL Deemed to be University Leads International Discourse on Ozone and Environment

Hyderabad: KL Deemed to be University, in collaboration with the Aequitas Victoria Research Centre (AVRC), Bihar, successfully hosted an International Conference to mark World Ozone Day. Organized by the College of Law at KL Deemed to be University, the conference centered around the theme “Reconstructing Anthropogenic Activities for Better Environment: A Multidisciplinary Approach.”
The virtual event was attended by esteemed scholars, environmentalists, legal experts, and researchers from across the globe, focusing on the critical issue of ozone layer depletion and the broader impact of human activities on the environment. The conference began with Dr. K.I. Pavan Kumar, Principal of KL College of Law and Head of the Legal Cell at KL Deemed to be University, delivering the welcome address. Prof. Dr. P. Ishwara Bhat, former Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka State Law University and West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, inaugurated the event and highlighted the significance of global cooperation in tackling environmental challenges.
Prof. (Dr.) Sairam Bhat, Co-Director of the Centre for Environmental Law at National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, gave a keynote address on Green Consumerism and motivated over 100 participants to sign a Green Pledge. The sessions featured discussions on sustainable legal frameworks by Prof. (Dr.) Kokila Konasinghe from the University of Colombo and Prof. (Dr.) V. Rajyalakshmi from Andhra University. Prof. (Dr.) David W. Tushaus shared insights into Bhutan’s approaches to Carbon Neutrality.
A diverse array of research papers was presented, addressing topics like climate change mitigation, sustainable urban planning, and corporate environmental responsibility. One of the key outcomes of the conference is a detailed report being prepared, which will include recommendations for protecting Vijayawada from floods and addressing flood risks in coastal Andhra Pradesh. The report aims to provide insights into the causes of such flooding and is in the planning to be submitted for further review to the Ministry of Environment, Andhra Pradesh.
