Hyderabad: Drunk Driver Scoots With Cop's Breath Analyser

Hyderabad: An unidentified drunk driver, who had been stopped by the Trimulgherry traffic police during a routine check, escaped with a breathalyser gadget. According to reports, the traffic police stopped a four-wheeler where the driver appeared visibly intoxicated, at Bowenpally. When they were trying to administer the breathalyser test, the driver grabbed the device from the constable's hands and sped away.

The police tried to pursue the fleeing vehicle but traffic congestion in the area prevented an immediate and safe capture. The police eventually located the vehicle but the driver had fled.

Following the incident, Trimulgherry traffic police filed a complaint with Bowenpally police, alleging the theft of their breathalyser. Efforts are underway to apprehend the driver.

Speeding car injures GHMC sanitation staffer

Hyderabad: Santha Rao, a 39-year-old sanitation worker, was severely injured early on Friday when he was struck by a speeding car while working at Gajularamaram. Police tracked down the hit-and-run driver after examining CCTV footage.

Police said Naga Anjaneya, a cab driver from Dundigal, hit Rao at high speed around 5.45 am. Preliminary investigations suggested that the accident may have occurred due to the driver's drowsiness, sub-inspector Satish Reddy.

Upon impact, Rao fell to the ground, sustaining injuries to his legs. Local residents went to his aid and transported him to a nearby hospital. "He fell down suddenly and did not get up. We took him to the hospital," recounted Sharath Kumar, a resident of the area.
