Hyderabad police grills Allu Arjun for over 3 hours in stampede case

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police here on Tuesday grilled film actor Allu Arjun for over three hours after he appeared before the Chikkadpally police for questioning in connection with the stampede that took place in Sandhya 70 MM theatre on December 4.

He was accompanied by his father-in-law K Chandrashekhar Reddy. The actor appeared before the police after availing advice from his legal team at his residence on Road No.68 in Jubilee Hills in the morning.

During the questioning, Chikkadpally Assistant Commissioner of Police L Ramesh Kumar and Chikkadpally Inspector B Raju Naik posed a series of questions about the stampede. They repeatedly enquired about when he came to about the incident as the actor earlier said that he came to know it the next day after the incident.

It is also learnt that the police officials sought to know who assassinated his character as said by him during his press conference conducted hours after a detailed statement made by the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in the winter session of Telangana Assembly explaining in detail about the stampede.

Sources said that the actor just nodded his head and remained silent during most part of the questioning.

In the notice, the Chikkadpally police said, “This is to inform you that the High Court in Criminal Petition No.15270/2024 was pleased to grant interim bail to you on December 13, 2024 in Cr. No 376/2024, under Section 105, 118 (1) read with 3(5) of BNS-2023 of Chikkadpally police station with conditions.

“As per condition No. 3, the petitioner/accused No. 11, you shall cooperate with the investigation. The case is under investigation and your presence is quite essential before the undersigned officer to elicit answers from you about the incident and if necessary for visiting the scene of offence, in order to ascertain the true facts,” Chikkadpally Inspector Raju Naik said in the notice.

“Therefore, you are requested to appear before the undersigned on December 24, 2024 at 110 am at Chikkadpally police station in the interest of justice,” Naik said.

The Chikkadpally police arrested him in the same case and sent him to the Chanchalguda prison. After getting him an interim bail on December 13, he was released. The actor is accused number 11 in the case.

The city police tightened the security at the Chikkadpally police station in view of the appearance of the actor. No one was allowed till 200 meters from the station premises.
