Agree or not, everyone wants to look good and be presentable at all times. And when we talk about good looks, it not only means to have glowing skin or an alluring personality but also healthy oral hygiene. In other words, dental care is very important and should not be ignored at any cost. When we say dental care, it is not just about having white lustrous teeth but maintaining good health of teeth, gums and the mouth. Working towards the mission to promote dental care across India, Dr. Karishma Vijan is following a holistic approach through her dental clinic ‘Quintessence Smiles (Q Smiles)’.
Observing the pattern of people being laid-back about not taking care of their oral health, Dr. Karishma is working rigorously to break this pattern. The dentist got a reality check about the same when she returned to India from Manchester after completing her Master’s degree. “One of my close relatives was battling oral cancer. Understanding the case, I realised that many people ignore taking care of their oral health”, said Dr. Karishma. Through consistent effort and practice, the dentist decided to raise the curtain about preventive dentistry along with cosmetic dentistry.
To raise awareness about promoting oral hygiene and overall wellbeing, Dr. Karishma on several occasions has revealed the significance of preventive healthcare. At Q Smiles, she is closely working to make people aware of preventive dentistry. The treatments done by the dentist takes utmost care of the early prevention of diseases that are caused by poor oral hygiene. Even while treating tooth issues like cavities or root canals, the dentist ensures that the issues are not just cured but are prevented from happening again.
Along with preventive dentistry, Dr. Vijan is closely breaking the perception people have about cosmetic dentistry. Elaborating about it, she said, “I believe that cosmetic dentistry is not just about giving a superficial look, but it is more about treating the dental problems by going to their root cause.” Apart from giving aesthetically good results, Dr. Karishma’s approach towards boosting oral health is unique in its way. “Not only the teeth should look good, but even the internal health of the teeth should be healthy. We make sure that the patients break the chain of having poor oral health which then leads to bad breath, or medically known as halitosis.”
Furthermore, Dr. Karishma explained that bad breath may cause gum diseases like gingivitis, and periodontitis. Emphasizing the need for brushing twice a day, the dentist suggests not be lethargic towards maintaining good oral hygiene.
With the highly advanced treatments, Dr. Karishma Vijan has been acing perfection in promoting oral hygiene with finesse. Her incredible work has seen her won different accolades like Women Super Achievers Award 2019 by the World Woman Leadership Congress in association with ET Now. She was earlier also named as one of the 'Most Inspiring Women in Healthcare across India' as a part of the Bumble Bizz campaign for women. Besides this, Q Smiles is closely working with social causes, and as a part of the CSR activity, the clinic dedicates a portion of its funds to health camps for the upliftment of the underprivileged people.
