Hitman goes episodic
Square Enix dropped a bomb regarding the latest game of the critically acclaimed and much loved Hitman franchise recently which sent shockwaves across the gaming community online. For the first time our favourite assassin will be available to us in an episodic format and not all at once.
Square Enix announced that the first episode of the upcoming hitman game, or the “Intro Pack” will be available for $15 on March 11, 2016. This features the Prologue of the game and will be set in Paris. Following Paris, players will be given access to Italy in April and Morocco in May. Square Enix plans on continuing to add locales to 47’s itinerary on a monthly basis hence.
There will also be weekly live events, the nature of which however, Square Enix is yet to reveal. Once you purchase the “Intro Pack”, all subsequent locales will set you back $10 each. Players can also choose to get the “Full Experience” by forking out $60. One may also choose to upgrade to the full experience from the intro pack for $50.
As of now, the upcoming Hitman title will only be available digitally with disk copies arriving sometime later this year. With the cost of game development rising, it seems that such steps will become more commonplace in the AAA market. While this decision has garnered a lot of hate for the company, it may just end up benefitting gamers. For instance, if you get the intro pack and are not happy with what you get, you don’t need to get the rest of the game and end up saving a hefty sum of money.
Players looking to get a feel for the game a bit earlier can access the Beta that is set to launch for the PS 4 on February 14, and on February 19 on the PC. Beta codes are available with fresh pre-orders of the game on both the Intro pack and the full game on both PS4 and the PC. All previous pre-orders stand cancelled as of now.
