Police detain 200 Naam Tamilar Katchi functionaries
Madurai: The rural police arrested 200 Naam Tamilar Katchi cadres including their leader Seeman near Kumaram village near Madurai when they attempted to visit Palamedu to conduct jallikattu violating the apex court ban. However the police released them in the evening.
On Tuesday, a jallikattu temple bull belongs to Kumaram village. The villagers paid respects before they buried the animal.
Meanwhile the police also conducted an inquiry with two persons in connection with crude bomb hurled at a moving bus near on Monday night allegedly condemning the government for non conduct of jallikattu near Madurai.
Around 11.45 pm, the youth hurled beer bottle filled with petrol at near Chinnvur Cheri village. The crude bomb hit the top portion of the bus and fell in the road. It burst only after it hit the road, said the police officer.
SP Vijayendra S.Bidari has formed two special teams to investigate the case. The police suspect the unidentified persons might have done either due to ban on jallikattu or due to quarrel over collecting exorbitant money by the auto-drivers when the bus services was suspended during the recent protest at Alanganallur village.
“We are conducting an inquiry with two persons suspected to be involved in the case,” said a senior police officer.
