CA course proposed to youths; high demand in India and globally
Vijayawada: There is high demand for chartered accountants not only within the country but also globally. CA courses would help one function as an auditor, an Audit Diwas event here on Wednesday heard.
The event was held at the commerce department of PB Siddhartha Arts and Science College, Moghalrajapuram. Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) south India regional council (SIRC) secretary Nitta Ravi Kishore said the British government started the Comptroller & Audit General (CAG) system on November 16, 1860. The central government has been observing this day as Audit Diwas since last year.
The CAG is among the statutory positions given by the Constitution.
Kishore said CAG has sole powers to audit the state and central government's income and expenditures. It would give advice and suggestions to both the state and central governments. Auditors can become CAG members or start their practices.
Chartered Accountant Gaddam Satyanarayana explained how CAG has been playing a key role in ensuring proper use of the public money spent by governments. CAs have a bright future. “There is a huge shortage of auditors in this country. It would be better for students to go for CA courses than other professional courses such as engineering, he said.
College principal Dr M Ramesh, college director Babu Rao, Dean Prof Rajesh Jampala, commerce department in-charge HOD K Narayana Rao and others participated in the event.
