Booker Dozen Announced

Over 13 books were chosen in the longlist announced by the Booker Prize authorities. The Booker Dozen was announced on Tuesday and the shortlist of six books will follow on September 21.

In a tweet, authorities of The Booker Prizes displayed the cover pages of all the 13 novels and said that they cast new light on what it means to exist in our time, and they do so in original and thrilling ways.

The 13 longlisted books included The House of Doors, The Bee Sting, Western Lane, In Ascension, Prophet Song, All the Little Bird-Hearts, Pearl, This Other Eden, How to Build A Boat, If I Survive You, Study for Obedience, Old God's Time and A Spell of Good Things.

The 13 longlisted books dealt with universal and topical themes: from deeply moving personal drama to tragi-comic family sagas, according to Esi Edugyan, Chair of the Judges.

The writers whose books were chosen are from seven countries across four continents.
