The fact that one of the protagonists is visually challenged makes the novel different.

Chennai: It is the tale of two women and their boss from the corporate world, who pursue an individual project to make a billion dollar. Multiple challenges would come past their way, testing the determination. Would they succeed?

The Billion Dollar Dream— a fiction by N. Deepika, a visually challenged woman, working as an assistant manager at Indian Oil Corporation brings in various emotions— rivalry, excitement and distress. The fact that one of the protagonists is visually challenged makes the novel different. It also depicts how a painful past could haunt a person for so long.

One of the three books in the trilogy series, The Billion Dollar Dream was launched by actor Suhasini Maniratnam at Anna Centenary Library on Saturday.

It was immense happiness that filled the eyes of the manager turned author, Deepika at the book launch.

“Writing has been my passion since very long. I allocate an hour in a day to read and write. After the idea about the billion dollar dream occurred, it didn’t take time to expand it into a novel,” said Deepika.

Appreciating the 34-year-old author’s effort, actor Suhasini Maniratnam said, “There is no use in lamenting about a situation. Instead, it is always better to take steps towards fulfilling one’s passion.” The actor had a candid chat with Deepika, as she asked about her favourite authors and much more.

When asked about the challenges faced while penning the book, Deepika said, “I could finish the writing part in around eight mo-nths, through a screen reader. But I had to be dependent on others time for editing.”

In an ending note, she advised the members of her fraternity not to give up their goals. “Have the courage to dream and confidence to follow through with your dreams,” she said in a confident tone.
