Kozhikode: Live painting to mark house warming
Kozhikode: Trust an artist to come up with a novel approach for a house-warming. M.K Sajeevan, illustrator and cover designer, has decided to have an artistic feast to make his house-warming memorable.
As per the plan on January 15, 100 artists will draw paintings live at the house in Keezhariyur near Meppayyur here. The creations would be exhibited. Another exhibition will be held at the venue for artists to display their major works. Yet another feature is the photo exhibition by Anees Vadakkan, Malappuram. A caricature exhibition will also be held during the day and to top it all, there will be a Ghazal concert. “All artists in my friends' circle from various parts are attending. I therefore thought I should make the day a memorable one,” says Sajeevan.
The locals are also thrilled to experience an artistic fete, far more than a mundane house-warming.
Sajeevan did not need to think twice to find a name for his new house. “It is the old ancestral house name, ‘Mullan Kandy Meethal’,” he says. ‘Meethal’ denotes high-range area in the local slang. According to him, old houses and their names struck a bond with nature and tradition.
“The ways, designing of houses, the prominence given to agriculture, respect given to ethnic culture were far better then,” feels Sajeevan.
