Single-most reason to draw!
For all those who’re tired of networking just over social media platforms, namma ooru has a breath of fresh air. Paint-o-holics, a city-based art organisation now allows one to build a connection of the heart, through art. In a casual chat, Rashmi Kothari, the brains behind the initiative tells us all about the connection and inspiration that lead her to “All Singles Assemble for Art”.
“The city is filled with single people, whatever the reason be. And most of the time, these people are migrators without friends or a family to fall back on. The main motive is to bring together people and kill loneliness,” shares the founder of Kalaatma, the art studio. In spite of having been an artist for the past 27 years, Rashmi talks about how she’s a self-taught artist with no professional training, “And this is exactly why the people who’re looking to participate do not have to be artists!”
An evening for singles where one can mingle with beautiful colours, high spirits and unlimited grub, Rashmi asserts how this is exclusively not a dating meet. “It’s one way to look at it, but not the only one. The event is about a two hour session where people can come together to create; both art and friendships. The essence of the evening will be to take home not just what your musings created, but a beautiful story too. We focus on giving you an experience and not just an evening doing something different,” she explains.
The rather unique itinerary for the event involves a master artist leading participants through the steps to create an acrylic masterpiece that they get to take home. They cover the painting supplies such as stretched canvass, brushes, paint kits, and voila! Time to create! Delving deeper, Rashmi also lays stress on why she choose to team up a singles meeting event with art. “There’s no better way to dealing with crisis or loneliness than to indulge and let your feelings flow in the form of paint. Nothing works as a better soul searching activity as art does because once it is finished and you look at your creation, it makes you proud. It’s that pride that helps one take over almost anything!”
