Art exhibitions drawing good response at Kalakriti

HYDERABAD: It's not every day that we get to see glimpses from the past, which we can contrast and compare with the present and the future.

An ongoing exhibition at Kalakriti Art Gallery titled 'A Reflection of Yesterday's Truth and Today's Imagination' gave art enthusiasts such an experience.

People turned up in large numbers to check out the works of prolific artist Masuram Ravikanth.

"My first exhibition of this artwork was held in France in 2017 and the second one was in Hyderabad. I was overjoyed to see several people take interest in such works and walk up to strike up a conversation about my work and the concept itself," Ravikanth said.

He described his work as mostly monuments and people from contemporary India from across all walks of life.

Meanwhile, a parallel exhibition 'Paradoxes of the City' is also being held at the art gallery.

On exhibit are works of artists like Dushyant Patel, Manisha Agarwal, Sreekanth Kurva and Subir Kumar Mandal.

"I have always been inspired by nature. Its gradual depletion has drawn me towards doing something about it. Awareness through my work has been the endeavour. We no longer see crows or sparrows as often these days, which is a sad state of affairs," said Manisha Agarwal. Her works range from butterflies to shrubs and a lion to a banyan tree, each of which tells a strong story and comes across as a wake-up to people to rise to the occasion.

"There can't be a bigger canvas than nature itself and with the climate crisis being a reality, exhibitions like these will make people do their bit," said Anu Ahluwalia, a visitor and a budding artist herself.

The exhibitions are on till June 14.
