Love is all around you!
Perhaps destiny played a role here too in getting this young author’s book out for the world to read ! At The Threshold of Love is city based author Namita Sonthalia’s debut novel bringing a fresh spin on romance in the city of Bengaluru. The plot revolves around the life of an event management company owner, Ahaana who despite celebrating love at the weddings of her clients, has not found her one true love yet. A spark develops between her and a client, Ronit Malhotra who is set to get married. But when things get out of hand, Ahaana agrees to an arranged marriage to another man and the rest of the book is well, destiny.
At The Threshold of Love has been Namita’s project for over six years now and the book was launched on Sunday at a special event. The young author gushes about her debut novel being the result of her undying passion for reading and stories. “I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. Romance is what I have been inclined towards and it seemed like the obvious choice when the time came for me to write. I have a compilation of poetry and journals from my childhood. I completely was an emotional person and romantic novels were my forte and I just ended up writing a fictional novel on this regard as well,” she says.
The friendship that evolved into a partnership between the novel’s protagonist Ahaana and her childhood best friend Ansh reflects the camaraderie Namita shares with her own real-life bestie! Her understanding of the world through love, friendship and understanding makes this book what it is. “My life with my friend is what I related the most to, in this book. The love story is all about destiny. I believe in today’s world everybody is in a rush to enter into a relationship or walk out of it. Love is a concept that is lost. I feel destiny has a large hand in getting people together. A love story like this one is needed so that the role of destiny is highlighted,” she gushes.
The 31-year-old alumnus from Jain University has been building a reputation for herself as a writer before she could become a fully published one. Her background in content writing gave her exposure to the inside tracks and functioning of various industries across the globe. “I could say I have a finger in every cup of tea. The work that I have done has given me a mammoth of knowledge. The more I read, the more I write, the more I learn also. When I created my first manuscript, I was rejected by all the leading publishing houses. I then took it up on me to create a name for myself as a writer. The work that I have done speaks for me now and when I took my manuscript to publishers they believed that it had content.”
