12,02,678 devotees visited Durga temple during Dasara festival
VIJAYAWADA: During the Dasara Sarannavaratri festivities at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada from October 15 to October 23, the Durga temple has earned an income of Rs 14.71 crore with the addition of the Hundi income of Rs 8.73 crore. The number of pilgrims who thronged the temple during the Dasara festivities, including Bhavainis, crossed 12 lakh.
Sri Kanaka Durga Devi Trust Board chairman Karnati Rambabu and executive officer K.S. Rama Rao said that with the support and coordination of all the departments and the public, the festivities were a huge success.
They further said that 12,02,678 devotees visited the temple and had the darshan of goddess Sri Kanaka Durga from October 15 to October 26.
After the completion of the festivities on October 23, around 3 lakh Bhavanis visited the temple from October 24 to October 26, they said. On these three days, 3.62 lakh Bhavanis thronged the temple, they added.
