Grandeur marks 75 years of Sri Akkanna Madanna Mahankali temple

HYDERABAD: Marking the commencement of a three-day celebration, special pujas were performed at Sri Akkanna Madanna Mahankali temple in Haribouli in the Old City, commemorating its 75 years here on Friday.

A feature of the festivities was that for five successive Fridays, starting from ‘ashadam’, hundreds of women devotees have been participating in ‘Kunkumarchana’. Friday also marked the 73 days of distribution of free food by the temple authorities.

According to S.P. Kranthi Kumar, organizing Secretary, “Archana aarti, installation of Kalash, mass kumkum archana and annadanam were all undertaken with religious fervour.”

Adhi Bhargavi, a devotee from Lal Darwaza, said “The celebrations were on a grand scale and befitting the 75 years milestone. I feel privileged to be part of this momentous occasion.”

Kunta Shalini, a resident of Uppuguda, said “I have been coming to this temple since my childhood. Today, my children and relatives, numbering around 15, took part in Kunkumarchana.”
