Adivasis observe World Tribal Day in Mulugu

WARANGAL: Tribal community members celebrated World Tribal Day by hoisting the flag and paying tributes, garlanding the statue of Komaram Bheem, and participating in the traditional dance form at the premises of ITDA office in Eturnagaram, Mulugu district on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, district collector Ila Tripati stated that the inhabitants of this region had suffered significant losses as a result of the recent severe rains, which caused damage to their fields and property as well as the deaths of some of their family members.

The district administration sent a report to the state government in order to assist the people in the event of crop and property damage, as well as the names of those who died.

By constructing residential schools specifically for tribal students, all types of amenities are offered in addition to normal education. She urged that parents enrol their children in public schools and assist them in reaching greater heights in their life.

According to ZP chairwoman Bade Nagajyothi, the state government is undertaking many welfare initiatives for the tribal community under the slogan "Jal Jungle Jameen."

The Adivasis who live by farming the podu lands of the forests became proprietors after pattas were distributed to them.

With the recent heavy rains, the low-lying areas of Medaram, Kondai, and Burgampet were submerged in flood water, causing many hardships for the residents of those places. She stated that the state administration is about to take permanent efforts to protect the people in order to avoid such a disaster.

Later, the district collector Ila Tripati and ZP chairperson B.Nagajyothi joined others in a traditional tribal dance to commemorate the occasion. Adivasi leaders Podem Rathnam, Yasam Raju, Shravan Kumar, Bala Krishna, MPP A. Vijay, co-option members Waliyabi, Sarpanch Ram Murthy, APO Vasantha Rao, Hema Latha, Buchaiah, Prabhakar, and others were present.
