Good news for pet owners: Mobile grooming vans are in town
HYDERABAD: With most pet parents finding it difficult to get their pets groomed given their busy schedules, mobile pet grooming centres are growing in Hyderabad, by the day.
Parents love their fur babies - from bathing and deworming to dressing them up in their cutest best, with a neat haircut, and more. But not many of them have the time, experience or skill to go about those chores, as it involves more than mere superficial cleansing. If not done right, not only does it affect the pets' physical health with skin allergies and infections, but will leave them with mental scars, even at the very sight of the equipment being used.
To help counter these problems and the daunting chore that pet grooming can be, pet clinics and companies are all set to not just visit home, but get onto the streets with mobile pet grooming centres. From giving a bath, clamping nails and cutting their hair to polishing teeth, professionals do it all in a moving vehicle.
A social media network platform for pet parents has identified the need for pet grooming vehicles that can cater to the needs of pets at the parents' convenience.
"Mobile grooming plays a very important role in the life of a pet as going to a spa for pet parent time needs a lot of spare time. People either don't have the time or the right vehicle to go to the spa, so mobile grooming is the best option," said Laxmikanth P., founder of a pet company.
They have brought in customized state-of-the-art tech-driven vans from Delhi.
D. Soumya, a professional groomer at a pet spa in Jubilee Hills, said, "Earlier, the idea was to visit homes to groom the pet, but once we realised that the transfer of equipment on and off the vehicles and homes involved lot of effort, we thought a grooming van was the best bet."
Mantravadi Chandra Shekar, canine behaviourist, says that though the idea of mobile pet grooming looks great on paper, there could be few things pet parents must bear in mind before opting for them. "One must ensure all of this is done only by professionals. Such services in a van would have limited ventilation and will also restrict the movements of a pet. There is also a problem of limited water usage that could affect the cleanliness and smell in the vehicle that will affect pets. A cramped area means less relaxed pets that could lead to sensitive pets resorting to biting, resulting in handlers forcing the pets to be calm which could trigger aggressive behaviour. If these problems are addressed earnestly, then these can surely be a boon for pet owners," Chandra said.
