Varalakshmi Vratam celebrated with religious fervour in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Varalakshmi Vratam was celebrated in the city with great devotion, by women who participated in various rituals. Temples were filled with devotees, and many families organised puja at home, inviting friends and relatives.
Women observed fasting on 'Sravana Sukruvaram' to seek blessings from Goddess Varalakshmi for the well-being and prosperity of their families. It is believed that worshipping Goddess Varalakshmi, known for Her generosity, on this day will give the worshipper more than what she asks for.
Lakshmi temples in the city were adorned with flowers and lights, symbolising the eight appearances of Goddess Lakshmi. This auspicious day is considered ideal for initiating new ventures, especially in business.
Jayalakshmi Ashalata, a resident of Secunderabad Cantonment, said, “Ladies from all the colonies, friends, and relatives were invited, and everyone participated in the puja. It's a very special day for women. The deity was adorned with gold ornaments and flowers, and dressed in a beautiful silk sari. Offerings included bangles, coconuts, betel leaves, and five different sweets. My daughters were especially excited as they had the opportunity to wear traditional half saris.”
Swathi Naidu, a resident of Rahmatnagar, said, “We visited the temple, prayed to Goddess Lakshmi, and thanked her for keeping us safe and bringing prosperity. This day holds special significance for all women.”
