Deck the Hall: Last-minute decor ideas to light up your Christmas celebrations
The festival of Christmas has arrived and has brought along an occasion to cheer, make merry and party harder. If you have invited your loved ones for a Christmas bash and still scrambling for ideas to give your home décor that extra festive fervor, we might have the best of suggestions for you. We spoke with a few experts to explore as to how you can make some last-minute tweaks to your Christmas party décor to make it all the more special and memorable.
According to Aashita Chadha, the Co-Founder of one of India’s fastest growing luxury home interior design firms, The KariGhars, the perfect Christmas décor would require you to make some efforts and put together diverse elements into a unified theme. “The Christmas décor is an ensemble of elements that weave together a celebratory theme and the perfect recreation zone for the little ones in the home. The entrance for a Christmas get-together should be one that snuggles every invitee with some cozy winter & Santa vibes. To start with, the door itself can be bordered with fresh green leaves and white orchids, while the passage to the living room can be kept glowing with a series of red candles in brass candle stands. The ideal colour theme for the overall décor should be a graceful mix of red, copper and whites,” said Aashita.
Sharing some more suggestions, she added, “As the guests arrive in the living room, they must simply be wowed by the showstopper of the occasion, the Christmas tree. Instead of the usual green, you may give it a snow clad feel this year, using bunches of white lily buds as well as snow sprays. And to make the celebration even more memorable, you should have a selfie/photograph corner, done aesthetically and with ample light. The décor of your home itself should greet every guest a Merry Christmas!”
However, Rahul Jindal, the Founder and MD of India’s biggest homegrown luxury outdoor furniture brand Loom Crafts, feels that Christmas is best celebrated around a bonfire in a backyard oasis. He said, “With the temperature dipping outdoors, the most apt addition to the Christmas party décor should be a spot where everyone can gather for an unforgettable bonfire experience. Instead of the living room, you can set and decorate your Christmas tree in your backyard or the extended balcony.
When asked about the suitable furniture options for the outdoor bonfire, he added, “A few all-weather hand-woven armchairs, built using synthetic fiber and aluminum tube, along with sofas and foot stools with cushions, can be most suited for a comfortable bonfire session where all can sing their hearts out. In case you want to give it a plush feel, and if the space allows, you can add a couple of sun beds to let the guests lay down comfortably while feeling completely at home. Make the most of your exquisite outdoors this Christmas before the temperature dips further.”
