Nandhini Enthrals Audience with Excellent Renditions
Hyderabad: The fifth concert of Kalasagaram’s 57th annual festival of music, dance and drama featured an excellent vocal concert by Vidhushi Dr. N. J. Nandhini from Thiruvananthapuram.
She started with Saint Thyagaraja’s Gowlaiganaraga Pancharatnam, “Dudukugala Nanne Dora KodukuBrochuraa” that set the tempo for the concert.
Nandhini moved to Ramaswamy Sivan’s ‘Kadaikanvaithennaialamma’ in Begada. A beautiful rendition of ‘Begada raga’ alapana enhanced the expectation of a wonderful concert to follow.
Neraval and Kalpanaswaram epitomised her complete control over the subject. Next was an equally enchanting Natakapriya raga alapana and ‘Idhisamayamubrovaradha’ of Mysore Vasudevacharya.
Nandhini took the line ‘Karuna jesimunukarirajunibrovaledha’ for neraval and kalpana swara pregnant with bhava and mathematical calculation in swara patterns.
A melody-filled ‘Kanagasaila’ in Punnagavarali came next before a grand Kalyani RTP. She took the famed ‘Un dharisanam kidaikumo Nataraja dayanidhe’ and handled brilliantly much to the delight of the audience.
She sang meera bhajan ‘Hari gunagavath’ in Deepali and ‘Aliveniendhuchaivu’ of Swathi Thirunal in Kurinji. The grand finale was with BehagThillana. Dr. D.S.R. Murthy on mridangam, R. Dinakar on violin and Janardhan on ghatam lent invaluable support that elevated the concert.
