NCPA Dance Season 2025: Month-Long Celebration of Indian Dance
The NCPA Mumbai Dance Season 2025 promises a captivating month-long celebration of dance and culture from January 9th to February 2nd across multiple venues in Mumbai. Organized by the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), this 6th edition features over 32 events and more than 100 artists, showcasing the vibrancy and diversity of India’s dance traditions.
The festival opens on January 9th with a tribute to Maharashtra’s folk heritage, curated by Nivedita Mukherjee and Manisha Jeet. Performances by troupes from Satara, Vidarbha, Konkan, and Vasai will bring the state’s traditions to life through dances like Naman, Waghya Murali, Koli, and Dhangar. The event will also include Mangala Gaur, highlighting swift dances and playful games, setting a lively tone for the cultural journey ahead.
The grand finale on February 2nd, curated by Malati Agneeswaran and Jayashree Rajagopal, will honour India’s classical dance traditions. The closing event will feature celebrated dancers and musicians collaborating in performances that blend classical artistry with contemporary creativity, delivering a spectacular conclusion to the festival.
